7 Things: Trump has finally been indicted; Tuberville continues to fight the DoD; and more …

7. Russia has arrested an American journalist amid allegations of spying, but America seems to question those charges. The Wall Street Journal has demanded his release, saying, “vehemently denies the allegations from the FSB and seeks the immediate release of our trusted and dedicated reporter, Evan Gershkovich.”

6. The U.S. House has passed a bill that is meant to lower the cost of producing natural gas. It includes an amendment from U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) forbidding the Department of Energy from seeking to ban gas stoves.

5. After a year of controversy, legal matters, and a Sweet 16 exit for Alabama, star player Brandon Miller goes pro. UAB also lost in the NIT Finals.

4. One of the angles former President Donald Trump continues to hit Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on is funding for Social Security and Medicare. Recent polls show that strategy is a good one because 71% of those polled show they would choose the two programs over budget cuts.

3. U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) says he is ready to fight the Department of Defense over his objections to DoD policies on abortion and says he will “stay here till hell freezes over.” Tuberville remains infuriated over the plans by the federal government to fund abortion procedures nationwide.

2. After weeks of conversation about the potential for an indictment over “hush-money” payments, former President Donald Trump has been indicted on 30 charges. Trump says this move will “backfire.”

1. Concerns over a fair trial for former President Donald Trump will dominate the discussion over Trump being indicted. In a post on Truth Social, Trump posted, “They only brought this Fake, Corrupt, and Disgraceful Charge against me because I stand with the American People, and they know I cannot get a fair trial in New York.”
