7. Sure, let Biden host a women’s town hall while he’s been accused of sexual assault

• Together, a woman who silenced women, Hillary Clinton, and a former vice president who is accused of assaulting one, Joe Biden, hosted a “women’s town hall” to focus on how the coronavirus has affected women.
• During the town hall, Biden said that fighting violence against women is “the leading cause” of his life, but Biden has still not addressed the accusations against him by former staffer Tara Reade as his campaign and the media struggle with how to deal with it with any credibility.

6. Never let a crisis go to waste

• Former Auburn football coach Tommy Tuberville said, “In government, we don’t do anything well. We just do stuff. And we throw money at it. And money is always the answer.” He went on to add that right now as the country tries to slowly reopen and repair the economy would be the time to privatize the TSA.
• Tuberville said that the government needs to “get out of the TSA business, and several other things that government can’t control or do right.” When it comes to reopening Alabama, Tuberville said he thinks “June 1 is really the focal point where we get everything kind of opened up.”

5. Trump will keep meat processing plants open

• President Donald Trump intends to use the Defense Production Act to keep meat processing plants open after some in the industry expressed concern over supply due to some plants closing after employees were diagnosed with the coronavirus.
• If a majority of processing plants were to shut own, there could be an 80% drop in meat availability at grocery stores, according to a White House official. Trump said that supply chains had hit a “sort of legal roadblock more than anything else,” but there’s currently no issue with supply.

4. They’re trying to include infrastructure in the next coronavirus stimulus package

• The next coronavirus relief package is already in the works, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is unhappy at the idea of including infrastructure funding while President Trump has expressed that infrastructure could be included in a package.
• McConnell said, “We need to keep the White House in the box. The Democrats and the White House both need to get the message.” He added that he would prefer a more modest infrastructure proposal.

3. Mo Brooks says restaurants should be allowed to open

• U.S. Representative Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville) has expressed that establishments like bars and restaurants should be allowed to open on May 1 with retail stores in the state, adding that when the consequences of keeping restaurants closed comes out, the state shouldn’t “whine.”
• On Twitter, Brooks said, “Restaurants should have the FREEDOM to decide how to best protect customers & customers should have the freedom to choose.” He suggested that the state should “compensate every citizen for all losses suffered” as a result of the continued restrictions.

• As the state starts reopening slowly, Birmingham will be requiring everyone who goes out in public to wear a face mask, but medical-grade masks are not required. 
• While 72% of Americans say they plan on wearing a face mask, you may be exempt from wearing a mask if it would pose a risk to your current state of health, are participating in solo outdoor activities, are at a dental appointment or otherwise necessary medical appointment where your mouth must be uncovered, or are two-years-old and younger. 

1. Alabama is getting ready to reopen

• Governor Kay Ivey has decided to let the stay-at-home order expire on April 30 at 5:00 p.m., allowing most retail businesses to reopen on May 1 at 50% normal capacity. 
• Elective medical procedures will be allowed, Alabama beaches will be open, but restaurants, bars, gyms and gatherings of 10 or more people are not allowed to open under the current guidelines. This order is scheduled to expire on May 15.
