7. Gov. Lujan Grisham (D) of New Mexico implemented an executive order banning open and concealed carry that is so obviously illegal that gun grabbers like David Hogg and U.S. Rep. Ted Lieu (D-California) have decried it. Obviously, this has already been challenged, protested, and it does nothing to address the death of an 11-year-old in a road rage incident nor is it clear the shooter was a licensed gun owner.
6. Both former President Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis went to a football game in Iowa as the campaign for the GOP nod in 2024 is at play, kinda. Trump was either booed or cheered (depending on who you ask), went to a frat house, and was accused of flipping off the crowd from a skybox (which he did not do). DeSantis sat in the crowd with Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds.
5. X and SpaceX owner Elon Musk is facing scrutiny for turning off Ukraine’s access to SpaceX’s Starlink Internet satellites as they were preparing for an offensive strike on the Russian navy. Some in the media want the government to punish Musk, while Musk responded that Starlink cannot be used for offensive attacks and the attack could have brought about a nuclear strike from Russia.
4. The push for the vaccine being put into every arm is coming, from manufacturers, schools, the Alabama Department of Public Health, the media, the CDC, and sad failing ex-journalists who can’t seem to grasp that their push for vaccines for everyone doesn’t work, if the goal is getting people vaccinated.
3. The fight over road funding in Alabama is not over and the I-65/US-43 kerfuffle is entering a new phase. State Sen. Chris Elliott (R-Josephine) halted the the road dollars for the much-maligned West Alabama Corridor project so State Rep. Chris England (D-Tuscaloosa) blocked every contract with the Alabama Department of Transportation in response. This won’t last.
2. The issue of porn in the library is slowly heading toward becoming a legislative issue and State Sen. Arthur Orr (R-Decatur) seems to be signaling that the purse strings will be used if librarians and their supporters continue pushing the matter.
1. Mask mandates in Alabama are back with Dallas County Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn declaring, “At this point in time it is only being taken effect in the government buildings that the public come into.” Newsweek is heralding this decision with an absurdly misleadingly headline reading, “Mask Mandate Update as First Republican State Brings Back Restrictions”.
