1. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein agrees with Trump the IG should look in to surveillance abuses
— The White House released a statement that reads like a vindication of Trump’s premise and an acquiescence to his request: “Based on the meeting with the President, the Department of Justice has asked the Inspector General to expand its current investigation to include any irregularities with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s or the Department of Justice’s tactics concerning the Trump Campaign.”
— Some members of Congress are not happy, Rep. Mark Meadows says, “His belated referral to the IG is not news… it is a ruse.”
2. Both of Alabama Democrats’ black groups endorse Walt Maddox
— The Alabama Democratic Conference, and the New South Coalition, have endorsed the clear front-runner in the Democrat primary, all but signalling the Democrat race over.
— Maddox’s primary opponent Sue Bell Cobb embarrassed herself with Hallary-esque tweet, “On Saturday, walls came crashing down in England as royal heritage blended beautifully with African American culture. But on that same day, walls stood firm in Montgomery as the same solo Gatekeeper chose who to let in and who to keep out. #ADC #Democrats #ItsTime”
3. Support for allowing teachers to carry in Alabama schools continues to be ignored
— The issue is a clear positive among potential voters in a Republican primary with 69 percent of Republicans in favor of allowing teachers to carry and 78 percent of parents saying they would feel more safe, or just as safe, with their child’s teacher being armed.
— The only statewide candidate to seize on this issue is State Representative Will Ainsworth, who is running for lieutenant governor.
4. Mistaken identity could place racist idiot on ballot for Public Service Commission
— “Jim” Bonner is leading in some polls for Public Service Commission and pollsters believe it is because he shares positve name ID with former Congressman Jo Bonner and a former University of Alabama Chancellor Judy Bonner.
— His Internet history is one of racist and anti-Semitic garbage, the n-word is used regularly and Hitler is referenced on Valentines Day in a post where an image says, “My love 4 you burns like 6,000 jews”.
5. Foreign policy moves by the Trump administration are over-shadowed by chaos narrative
— New Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced yesterday that sanctions on Iran will be “unprecedented” in scope.
— Even though some question the move, the trade war with China is postponed as China has agreed to cut the trade deficit; Beijing says it will “significantly increase” its purchases of U.S. goods and services.
6. Obamas to make “8 figures” to make programs for Netflix
— Their production company is called “Higher Ground Productions”, everyone will now pretend that they never slung in mud.
— People are threatening to boycott Netflix over this decision, but that doesn’t work for conservatives.
7. ESPN’s Jemelle Hill received an award for journalism in a year where she lost her prime gig and made multiple racial comments
— Hill constantly found herself embroiled in dumb controversy when she called the President “racist”, called for a boycott of the NFL over kneeling, and perfectly embodied the criticism directed at her employer.
— Her experiment as a cooler and hipper host of “Sportscenter 6” was an utter failure on every level.
