During a meeting with disability advocates for the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Vice President Kamala Harris introduced herself in the meeting by saying, “I am Kamala Harris, my pronouns are she and her, I am a woman sitting at a table wearing a blue suit.”

While at the meeting, Harris addressed the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decisions and states outlawing abortion by saying, “[T]hese abortion restrictions that are being put in place in our country, by extremist so-called leaders in various states, will have disproportionate impacts on people with disabilities.”
6. Child labor in Alabama

A report by Reuters has disclosed that a Hyundai supplier’s manufacturing facility in Luverne employed child labor as part of their manufacturing process. The issue came to light after a missing illegal immigrant minor was located and found to have worked at the plant with her siblings and father.
- The employer, SMART Alabama, LLC, claims that they used an employment agency to staff their positions and did not know that child labor was being used. SMART issued a statement denying “any allegation that it knowingly employed anyone who is ineligible for employment under these laws.” The company added, “SMART finds the act of human trafficking and the exploitation of vulnerable populations tragic.”
5. Gay men need the monkeypox vaccine first

According to Dr. Anthony Fauci, gay men should be on the priority list for receiving the monkeypox vaccine, reaffirming the analysis that the virus is primarily impacting the gay male population.

Fauci stated that it’s “essential that all countries work closely with communities of men who have sex with men to design and deliver effective information and services, and to adopt measures that protect the health, human rights and dignity of affected communities.”
4. Alabama wedding venue under fire

After a couple decided they wanted to get married at Swann Lake Stables in Birmingham, they read the contract to find that the venue did not allow same-sex weddings at their location. The heterosexual couple disagreed with that and decided the business must bend to their will to host their wedding. Swann Lake Stables told them no.

Marjorie Jones, one of the owners, said the venue has that rule to “honor God” and would not be changing it for this couple. The news media and social media are now trying to pressure the venue to change its policy with some invoking Birmingham’s non-discrimination ordinance but the owners seem to be holding firm, with Jones noting that her view of marriage is that the Bible says to “be fruitful and multiply.”
3. Trump predicts Republican victories in 2022

Former President Donald Trump spoke at the America First Policy Institute summit this week, where he indicated that he could run for president again in 2024. He also predicted Republican wins in the 2022 midterm general election.

Trump said, “We gather today on the verge of a historic midterm election. The American people are poised to reject the failed reign of Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and the radical left in a momentous landslide.” He went on to add, “This November, the people are going to vote to stop the destruction of our country and they’re going to vote to rescue America’s future.”

Alabama, along with 21 other states, entered into a lawsuit against the federal government over new school food program policies that would force schools to change certain policies concerning transgender students or risk losing funding.

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall advised, “Joe Biden and his administration are obsessed with imposing their extremist sexual policies on the people of our great nation, adults and children alike. Their latest plan…is to hold schoolchildren’s food hostage unless their schools submit to the left’s radical ‘gender identity’ agenda. This immoral and illegal scheme cannot stand.”
1. Ainsworth unhappy with masking narrative pushed by ADPH

The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) released a new ad campaign in an attempt to “normalize masking,” and Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth criticized the campaign by saying the ADPH had “overstepped the boundary.”

Ainsworth went on to say, “I don’t think they need to get into this idea we need to normalize masks. That is just insane, right? This has gotten to the point now we understand what we’re dealing with. This is very similar to a flu. We’re going to have to learn to live with it.” Ainsworth later added, “We’re going to push back, and masking is not going to become a normalizing thing. Our kids are going to school. I do not think they need to be wearing masks. You want to go to your jobs or restaurant or just go out, I don’t think you should have to wear a mask.”
