‘Never Forget’: Alabama officials recognize 23rd anniversary of September 11, 2001

Alabama leaders are reflecting on the 23rd anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Several of those leaders posted about Patriot Day on social media, calling on Americans to never forget the attacks against the Twin Towers and the Pentagon that day.

Governor Kay Ivey ordered flags in the state to be displayed at half-staff in honor of the fallen from that day.

Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth the anniversary is a reminder that “peace through strength is more important now than ever.”

Speaker of the Alabama House Nathaniel Ledbetter posted a quote from then President George W. Bush about the attacks.

Both of Alabama’s U.S. Senators also commemorated the anniversary.

Members of the Alabama Congressional delegation also honored the victims of the attacks.
