Moore: Possible indictment is because left ‘fears’ Trump

U.S. Rep. Barry Moore said the possibility of former President Trump being indicted again is just another example of the “weaponization” of the Department of Justice against President Joe Biden’s political opponent.

Trump said he received a letter from Special Counsel Jack Smith this week revealing that the former president is a target of a grand jury investigation over Jan. 6.

According to reports, the charges could include conspiracy to defraud the United States, deprivation of rights under color of law, and tampering with victims, witnesses or informants.

Moore (R-Enterprise) reacted to the possible Trump indictment on WVNN’s “The Yaffee Program) Thursday.

“I’m probably thinking like the vast majority of the American people,” Moore said. “It’s just another leftist attack on the man the left fears the most in this country and that’s Donald Trump. They do not want him as the Republican nominee. I think it’s more weaponization.”

The congressman said he’s no longer surprised at the bias shown by the DOJ against Trump.

“We’ve seen that-you know, from the testimony from Christopher Wray, a few weeks ago in Judiciary (Committee) how the FBI kind of gave the Hillary Clinton team potential briefings and never gave the Trump campaign team one,” he said. “They knew about the dossier. Comey knew the dossier was fake. He knew it was coming from the Clinton campaign and the DNC, and somehow or another that played out in the election and Russia collusion and two impeachments and now three for four indictments.”

Moore believes this is not just about Trump, but also about going after his supporters.

“They are not going to let up,” he said. “They fear this man. They fear the populist movement that’s behind him in this country. It’s just, to me, very concerning when you see the DOJ, the government itself, involving itself in elections to go after political opponents of the people in power.”

He also said the timing of this letter is suspect because Congress is looking into allegations against Hunter Biden.

“We know this is a rogue prosecutor,” he said, “and we know he was brought in at this time and it’s no accident that as we had whistleblowers come in from the IRS yesterday, talking about millions of dollars that apparently there were opportunities to do felony indictments and charges against Hunter Biden with the evidence that was there, as though testimonies were coming forward yesterday in a hearing, this arraignment notice comes out. These guys are really good at trying to change the narrative.”
