Members of the public in the Montgomery area can now nominate anyone working on the front lines during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic to be publicly recognized as a hero as part of a new city program.

Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed announced the program Wednesday and suggested possible nominees could be those “delivering hot meals, collecting garbage, clearing debris, restocking grocery shelves or caring for the most vulnerable among us.”

The city will choose two “Frontline Heroes” per week from submitted nominations. The stories of these two heroes will be shared on the city’s website and social media channels.

“This is our chance to highlight their work,” Reed said in a statement.

“They are the ones putting duty and community first by providing extraordinary service in an unprecedented time,” the mayor added.
