Paige Madden has won her second medal during the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics in the swimming pool.

The Mobile, Alabama native claimed bronze in the 800 meter freestyle event over the weekend, finishing only behind fellow American Katie Ledecky (gold) and Ariarne Titmus of Australia (silver).

Madden also helped lead Team USA to a silver medal in the 4x200M Freestyle Relay team event as well as winning a silver medal at the last games in Tokyo.

A graduate of UMS-Wright Preparatory School in Mobile, Madden still holds four individual Alabama state records in the pool.

“If you told me that a year ago, I would have said you’re crazy, but maybe a month ago, it was sort of in the back of my mind, just based off of my training, but it still feels so surreal,” Madden said after her final race of these games that saw her leave with an individual medal. “It’s been three years, especially this last year. I think it just hasn’t shown until tonight.”
