According to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, K-9 unit Hunter showed a man running from the law who’s top dog on Tuesday.

MCSO detectives from the major crimes unit executing a warrant were advised that the location of the warrant may have multiple occupants and suspects that were known to be armed. Upon arrival, detectives observed a white male on the property who fled immediately once law enforcement exited their vehicles. Deputies gave several verbal commands for the suspect to stop running and he refused to comply and ran to nearby woods.

K-9 Hunter was released and successfully apprehended the fleeing suspect, Robert Dees Jr.

“During the apprehension Dees refused to comply with Deputies orders and refused to place his hands behind his back. Dees kicked K-9 Hunter in the head causing injury to this left eye,” the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office reports.

“Deputies finally gained control of Dees and placed him in restraints without further incident. Dees received treatment on the scene for a minor injury to his left leg. K-9 Hunter was transported to Arc Animal Clinic for his injuries. K-9 Hunter will be closely monitored for 24 hours to ensure there is no damage to his eye.”
