The American Conservative Union (ACU) on Tuesday released its annual legislative scorecard ratings, which ranks congressional lawmakers according to their previous year’s voting records.

The right-wing advocacy organization is best known for its hosting of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). Lawmakers that score a 90% or above on ACU’s ratings are recognized with the “Award for Conservative Excellence.”

ACU’s 2021 scorecard leaderboard shows that U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville) held a 2021 rating of 97%, which was the highest score among Alabama’s congressional delegation.

The North Alabama congressman, who is a 2022 candidate for Alabama’s open U.S. Senate seat, holds a lifetime ACU rating of 91%.

In a statement announcing his 2021 rating, Brooks proclaimed himself to be “the fighter who will save America.”

“Weak-kneed RINO Republicans move over! Mo Brooks is the fighter who will save America,” he said of himself. “I don’t just talk the talk at election time, I walk the walk when it comes to tough votes in Congress. That’s what is needed at this pivotal point in American history— conservative stalwarts who will take the fight to the Washington establishment whose corrupt ways have led America to the brink of Socialist-hellscape disaster.”

According to Brooks, his congressional voting record has proven him to be “Alabama’s conservative leader.”

He concluded, “I have proven time and again to be among the most conservative members of Congress according to groups like the American Conservative Union who evaluate votes in areas such as honest and accurate elections, the Second Amendment, personal liberty, low taxes, debt-junkie spending, and so on. I am Alabama’s conservative leader.”
