This past Friday, U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville) formally qualified his candidacy for the U.S. Senate with the Alabama Republican Party.

Brooks joins former Business Council of Alabama CEO Katie Britt and former U.S. Army aviator Mike Durant in officially qualifying his candidacy for Alabama’s open U.S. Senate seat.

Brooks’ campaign in a release touted the endorsement he holds from former President Donald Trump.

“Today, Congressman Mo Brooks officially qualified to be Alabama’s Republican nominee for the United States Senate. Congressman Brooks is the only proven Conservative, Trump-endorsed candidate in the race,” the campaign stated.

Brooks seemingly took a shot at his GOP primary opponents and indicated that he was the only “proven conservative” in the race.

“America needs tested fighters with a proven record of standing with President Trump and the MAGA agenda,” asserted Brooks. “As the ONLY America First candidate in this race, I offer Alabama a choice between a proven conservative or what America can’t afford: yet another unreliable Liz Cheney or John McCain RINO. I look forward to seeing Alabama citizens on the trail soon, and especially look forward to earning their vote on May 24.”

The primary election will take place on May 24, 2022.
