Congressman Mike Rogers (AL-3) is standing up against Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan’s “hatred” and “anti-Semitism.”

Just this week, Rogers highlighted his proud support and cosponsorship of H. Res. 72, legislation condemning all anti-Israel and anti-Semitic hatred. He advised that this type of discrimination has been recently promoted by Farrakhan and certain Democrats in Congress.

“The growing hatred we hear spewed from people like Mr. Farrakhan has no place in American society. More shockingly, this hate has bled into the halls of Congress by Liberal Democrats, and it is simply unacceptable. I will always stand with Israel and against anti-Semitism in whatever form it takes,” Rogers said in a statement.

In Alabama, the Nation of Islam’s Birmingham chapter has recently been leading the boycott efforts in Hoover following the officer-involved shooting death of E.J. Bradford. The local leader, Tremon Muhammad, unabashedly reaffirmed his support of Farrakhan in response to a December article by Yellowhammer News.

Now, with Attorney General Steve Marshall announcing the conclusion of the investigation into Bradford’s fatal shooting and that the officer was “justified” in his actions, the Nation of Islam could again be at the center of attention in the Birmingham-area.

While allied protesters burned two American flags Tuesday night after Marshall’s announcement, Muhammad has previously said that his organization was not on the protest front lines because “the Nation of Islam does not subscribe to the theory of nonviolence.”

It remains to be seen if the conclusion of the Bradford investigation and decision that the officer did not commit a crime changes the Nation of Islam’s involvement in Hoover.
