Massive Drug Arrests In Franklin County

As reported by WHNT News, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has announced nearly 100 drug arrests over the past 60 days.

Sheriff Shannon Oliver knows all too well the drug problem that’s gripping the country. As law enforcement official, he sees it every day, but even Sheriff Oliver was surprised with the number of drug-related arrests his deputies and task-force agents have made in his county since mid-August—98 to be exact.

“That’s a lot of arrests,” said Sheriff Oliver. “ There’s plenty of more out there, but that’s a lot of arrests and a lot of work. It seems like it is becoming every part of the county, every corner, it’s everywhere you turn, there is something to do with drugs.”

To put things in perspective, the number of arrests have been so high that for the past 60 days, the jail has had a population increase of 30 percent.

Sheriff Oliver stated how proud he is of these officers. “ They worked very hard and put forth a great effort to make all of these arrests in this short amount of time.” A list of those most recently arrested can be found on the Sherriff’s Department website latest news release.
