Marsha Blackburn plans lawsuit against Jack Smith over FBI surveillance of GOP Senators including Tommy Tuberville

(U.S. Senate, YHN)

U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee) is planning to sue former Special Council Jack Smith and other former Department Justice officials for spying on her and other Republican senators.

The FBI revealed earlier this month that Smith’s team tracked the private communications and call records of nearly a dozen GOP lawmakers, including Blackburn and U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn).

Blackburn discussed the issue Thursday on Talk Radio 102.3’s “Yaffee Live.”

“Yes, there were eight senators that the FBI spied on and pulled all of our phone records every call that came into us or we made, where we were physically standing when the call was made, and the duration of the call the individual that either received or made the call to us, they pulled all of those records,” Blackburn explained. “There is no reason for them to have done that.”

The senator said the acts against her and other senators was against the law and the U.S. Constitution.

“We cannot find the predicate,” she argued. “It is a violation of our first and fourth amendment rights, the separation of powers, the Stored Communications Act and the Speech and Debate Clause. And yes, the eight of us are looking at filing charges against the Biden FBI, the Biden DOJ and Jack Smith.”

Last week, Smith was referred to the Department of Justice office that deals with professional misconduct and was also referred for disbarment by two state panels.

In response to the referral Tuberville simply said, “Good. Disbar Jack Smith and LOCK HIM UP.”
