Alabama guard Mark Sears was named as a consensus All-American, joining Brandon Miller (2023) and Leon Douglas (1975) as the only Tide players in program history to accomplish the feat.

To reach “consensus” status, a player must be named to either the first, second, or third team by all four major publications including the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), the Sporting News, and the Associated Press.

Sears had already been named as a second-team All-American by both the Sporting News and Associated Press, but on Wednesday was named second-team by the USBWA and to the third-team by the NABC to secure consensus status.

Both the Associated Press and the league’s coaches named Sears a first-team All-SEC as well.

Sears has been nothing short of phenomenal this season for Alabama. While playing 33 minutes per game, he has averaged over 21 points along with 4 rebounds and 4 assists and is shooting over 43 percent from the three-point line.

He has been the focal point of an Alabama offense that averaged over 90 points per game and was among the best in the nation.

Now, turning the focus to the NCAA Tournament, Sears hopes to continue his run of dominance this season on the biggest stage in the sport.
