Manufacture Alabama, the state’s premier association representing manufacturers and industrial employers, made their pick in a fast-approaching general election in the Tuscaloosa area.

The group endorsed Tuscaloosa City Councilman Norman Crow in the upcoming special election for Alabama House District 63, set for Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

“Alabama’s manufacturing success depends on leaders who are willing to listen to employers and help create a competitive environment for industry,” said Jon Barganier, President & CEO of Manufacture Alabama.

“Norman will bring a fresh perspective, strong community ties, and a clear appreciation for the role manufacturing plays in strengthening local economies. We are proud to endorse him as he seeks to serve in the Alabama House of Representatives.”

Crow currently represents Tuscaloosa City Council District 3, a seat he first won in March 2021.

He is the founder and former president of D.T. Freight, LLC and has served in a number of economic-development and state-appointed roles, including chairing the Tuscaloosa County Industrial Development Authority, and serving on the Alabama Workforce Council and Alabama Commission on Higher Education.

Crow said he plans to prioritize the fundamentals manufacturers routinely cite as make-or-break issues for competitiveness.

“Alabama’s manufacturing industries are the foundation of the state’s economy,” Crow said.

“Fair regulation, affordable energy, transportation and infrastructure are the backbones of manufacturing, and I will fight to make Alabama’s manufacturing sector the most competitive in America. I am honored to receive the endorsement of Manufacture Alabama.”

The seat came open after former State Rep. Cynthia Lee Almond was appointed by Governor Kay Ivey to serve as President of the Alabama Public Service Commission.

House District 63 includes portions of Tuscaloosa County and encompasses the University of Alabama and surrounding areas.
