After the poor performance by President Joe Biden in the CNN Presidential Debate Thursday night, many are speculating that the Democratic Party will have to nominate an alternative candidate.

Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl discussed the possibility Friday on WVNN’s “The Yaffee Program.”
“Immediately after, the pundits…they were in shock and they were horrified and they were panicking,” Wahl said. “They could not process what had just happened. You had some of them saying, ‘he’s got to go, as the nominee, we can’t have Joe Biden.’ And others say, ‘well no, republicans will rally around Donald Trump and Democrats should rally around Joe Biden.’ But watching that process and watching, watching how they desperately tried to defend Biden. Saying he was sick, his voice was raspy because he’d had a cold. I realized just how much they found out last night. They have a real problem. And it worries me that they’re going to try to replace Joe Biden as their nominee at this point.”

Wahl also thinks former President Trump had an excellent performance.
“Donald Trump actually stayed on issue,” he argued. “He talked about the issues that are affecting the American people, whether it was the border, the economy, foreign policy, and I think he hit the issues that needed to be hit. And I really think that he stayed calm. He talked about the right issues, and we’re seeing a new Donald Trump and I think we’re seeing a new Donald Trump who can and will win in November.”
Wahl believes that if the Democrats really do try to replace Biden as the nominee, they’ll most likely pick the governor of California.
“I think it’s Gavin Newsom if they do do it, and that is a horrifying prospect because Gavin Newsom is governor of a state that is literally the biggest state with refugees fleeing anywhere in the country right now,” he said. “The policies of California are still draconian.”
Wahl concluded that defeating Joe Biden is not just about winning an election, but about the future of the country.
“That’s one thing I wish would have come up on the debate stage,” he said. “I wish Donald Trump would have said, ‘Look, we’re fighting for the fundamental values that made America great. We’re fighting for the rights and freedoms every individual. And this is a battle between light and darkness, and truth and truth and dishonesty, and a battle between slavery and freedom. That freedom is on the ballot this November.’”
