Mobile made headlines this week when news broke that Shawn Carter — better known by his professional rap name, Jay-Z — had filed a defamation lawsuit in the State of Alabama against a Jane Doe, who accused him of sexual assault.

The woman would admit inconsistencies in her story and go on to drop her lawsuit voluntarily, which has led Carter to file a suit of his own against both her and her attorneys.

According to a story from Yahoo News, Jay-Z claims both the woman along with her representation — Tony Buzbee and David Fortney — “engaged in an evil conspiracy” and made “completely fabricated” claims that Jay-Z and another male assaulted the woman back in 2000 at an afterparty for the MTV Video Music Awards.

Even though the woman dropped the lawsuit, the rapper argues in an amended complaint that she has continued to make statements about him which have damaged his reputation.

“By refusing to apologize, and continuing to ‘stand on what [she] said,’ despite all the evidence and, indeed, her own admissions to the contrary, Doe continues to display a shocking and reckless disregard for the truth that is both intentional and malicious,” the complaint from Carter says.

“Doe never had any reasonable grounds to support any truth in her statements and acted with reckless disregard for the truth,” the filing continues to allege. “In other words, she lied.”
