BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — World-renowned meteorologist and Alabama legend James Spann will be the master of ceremonies at the inaugural Yellowhammer Power & Influence reception taking place the evening of Friday, May 29, 2015, at Birmingham’s Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa, Yellowhammer Multimedia announced on Monday.

For the last four years, Yellowhammer News has released an annual list of the most powerful and influential people in Alabama politics and business. This year for the first time the company will also host a reception honoring the individuals on the list who use their power and influence to better the state.

Yellowhammer Multimedia CEO Cliff Sims said having Spann host the event was a natural fit.

“No individual personifies what it means to use a position of influence for good more than James Spann,” said Sims. “From the way he uses his platform on TV to keep us all safe during weather crises, to his relentless commitment to our community, James has earned his status as a local icon. We are honored that he agreed to be the emcee of our inaugural Power & Influence reception, and we are excited he’ll be a major part of Alabama’s can’t-miss business and political event of the year.”

“The state of Alabama is very special to me, and I am thankful for the hard working men and women that will be honored during this event,” added Spann. “They have gone above and beyond to make our state a better place to work and live. I am looking forward to it.”
