Alabama Lieutenant Governor Kay Ivey has been named Co-Chair of the National Lieutenant Governor’s Association’s committee on State Strategies in Military Affairs.

This newly formed committee will give lieutenant governors a forum to discuss the effects of federal and state actions related to the military, including Base Realignment and Closures (BRAC) and cuts from sequestration.

“Alabama has seen the positive and negative effects of changes to our military installations, so I feel confident I can bring that knowledge to the table when discussing the matter on a national level,” said Lieutenant Governor Ivey. “Our military installations play a crucial role in our state and national defense and are an economic driving force.”

Ivey was named co-chair by NLGA Chair Oklahoma Lieutenant Governor Todd Lamb. She will co-chair the committee with Montana Lieutenant Governor John Walsh.

NLGA is the professional association providing research and issue exchange opportunities to the officeholders first in line of succession to governor in all 50 states and the U.S. territories.
