Ivey: ‘Progress is what we’ve gotten from President Trump’

HOOVER — Governor Kay Ivey on Wednesday morning personally delivered the requisite number of signed petitions for President Donald Trump to appear on Alabama’s Republican primary ballot on March 3, 2020.

Ivey and other honorary Trump Victory state co-chairs were on hand at the Alabama Republican Party headquarters, where Ivey happily handed the necessary ballot access documents to ALGOP Chairman Terry Lathan. Trump campaign staffers were also on hand and completed the party’s official qualifying process for the president’s reelection bid.

Speaking to members of the media present, Ivey expressed her staunch support of Trump.

“As honorary co-chair (for the campaign) and as governor of the great state of Alabama, I am proud to officially deliver President Trump’s qualifying papers and his check for reelection in 2020,” she emphasized.

Ivey cited Alabama consistently boasting the highest approval rating of Trump in the United States (including for the past five consecutive months).

“[S]o, I’m very confident that the people of Alabama will again give him strong support and vote for President Trump in the 2020 elections,” Ivey said. “You know, in 2016 Alabama overwhelmingly voted for President Trump — and Alabamians and the men and women across our country saw progress. Progress is what we’ve gotten from President Trump.”

She concluded by urging everyone to get out the vote in 2020.

Alabama Public Service Commission President Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh, a Trump Victory co-chair in the state, told Yellowhammer News, “President Trump’s policies have brought unprecedented prosperity to Alabama, and his judicial nominees have fought to protect our values and preserve the rule of law.”

“The outrageous antics by liberals in Washington prove the president is making a difference in challenging the socialist movement and its broken ideology,” she concluded. “We have to re-elect him for the future of our country, and I plan to support his campaign every way I can.”
