Ivey orders flags to half-staff ‘to honor’ California shooting victims

(United States Air Force)

Governor Kay Ivey on Thursday ordered all state flags to be lowered to half-staff “to honor the victims of the shooting in Thousand Oaks, California.”

Ivey’s order came at the request of President Donald Trump and “as a mark of respect for the victims.” Flags should remain at half-staff until sunset on Saturday.

“Praying for all involved in this horrific tragedy,” Ivey added in a tweet.

Including heroic Sgt. Ron Helus of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, 12 people were killed by the lone gunman, who has now been identified. Over a dozen more people were injured.
