Ivey: Dadeville ‘will persevere’

Gov. Kay Ivey is mourning the loss of those who were killed Saturday night in a shooting at a birthday celebration in Dadeville.

Authorities continue to investigate the shooting where four people were killed and 32 others injured, but have not yet identified any suspects.

Ivey spoke about the incident Monday during a speech to the Montgomery Rotary Club.

“Priority number one right now is to support our law enforcement officials as they work to effectively bring anyone responsible to justice,” Ivey said. “Even in this time of healing, there’s an important mission that absolutely must be the focus.

“The city of Dadeville and our beloved Alabama will persevere.”

The names of those killed are Corbin Dahmontrey Holston, Marsiah Emmanuel “Siah” Collins, Philstavious Dowdell, and Shaunkivia Nicole “Keke” Smith.

State Rep. Ed Oliver (R-Dadeville) talked about the shooting on the floor of the House Tuesday, and also named the four killed in the tragedy. The House observed a moment of silence in memory of the victims as well.
