It Just Means More: Alabama vs. Georgia showdown dwarfs Penn State vs. Oregon in TV ratings

They have always said that football in the south is like a second religion, and this is encapsulated by the passion and relentless nature of college football fans in this area of the country.

As they say, ‘It Just Means More’ in the SEC — and this was once again reflected in last week’s television ratings.

There were multiple huge games across the country. The marquee game in the SEC on Saturday night was between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs.

Much to the chagrin of ESPN and ABC though, this was matched up against a top-10 matchup in the Big 10 between Penn State and Oregon.

Even with that challenge though, the early returns on the ratings reflected the showdown in the South dwarfing the one up north.

With over three million more viewers than one of the most significant Big 10 games of the season, the nation’s tastes are clear: the SEC still reigns supreme.

Monitoring the rest of the way for the big SEC games versus Big 10 is going to be something fans pay close attention to and beat their chest over all year long.
