The Hoover Police Department has been donated six ballistic vests to outfit all of the department’s K9s.

WBRC reported that Hoover PD recently was contacted by LOF Defense Systems. Then, at at the Canadian company’s request, the department tried out some vests made by LOF.

After the department’s K9 handlers chose one of the offerings for usage, LOF reportedly informed them that an anonymous donor was donating five ballistic vests to the department.

The company also stepped up to donate the final vest so all Hoover PD patrol dogs will be outfitted.

“I’m so grateful to LOF and their donors for outfitting all of our talented K9s. Our dogs work with their partners every day, and the added ballistic protection is invaluable,” Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis told WBRC.

The Hoover PD K9s are named Riko, Niko, Nero, Jax and Nina. You can view pictures of each dog in a vest here.
