‘Help us heal America’: Katie Britt’s prayer after Trump at National Prayer Breakfast

U.S. Senator Katie Britt led a powerful prayer at Thursday’s 73rd National Prayer Breakfast in Washington D.C. Her remarks at the event, largely centered on the safety of President Donald Trump and Vice President Vance as well as a call for America to reestablish itself as a global moral leader.

“Help our leaders, especially President Trump and Vice President Vance, as they steer our country forward and grant them the grace, wisdom, and judgment to move our nation into a brighter future,” said Britt (R-Montgomery). “Give them the fortitude to overcome all obstacles placed in front of them. Just as our leaders work to renew our nation, let us spark a revival in hearts across our country, Lord.”

“Lord we thank you for the hand of protection and provision that you have extended over our nation since its founding. Help us as we seek to heal the broken places in our culture,” Britt continued. “Help us heal America. To make sure our children and grandchildren can continue to be guided by your light.”

After delivering the prayer, President Trump shook Britt’s hand and thanked her for her remarks.

During his comments, the President, who led the breakfast, noted his full support for religious liberty and the need to protect it. He also emphasized that America will always be one nation under God.

The first president to attend the National Prayer Breakfast was President Dwight D. Eisenhower in February 1953. Since that time every president has either spoken or made an appearance at the event.
