Greg Byrne reports 800 new members have joined Yea Alabama since his call to action

University of Alabama Athletics Director Greg Byrne has found himself in the news cycle this week after making a widespread call to action pleading with fans to support the school’s NIL initiatives and do their part in keeping the best talent in the country in Tuscaloosa.

Some criticized Byrne’s approach while some argued that it is no different from anything else that fundraisers across the country have done in order to stay competitive in the current era of college football, but there’s no question it was discussed heavily.

Byrne made an appearance on Thursday on the Next Round and explained his thoughts on the post amidst the criticism and said the prevailing thought that Alabama has unlimited money is not accurate and that this is simply a requirement in today’s day and age.

But, no matter how you feel about Byrne’s approach, the results he announced on Friday are undeniable.

According to another post on his social media, Byrne says that Yea Alabama has seen nearly 800 new members join the collective and commit to give financially in the two days since he came out with the initial plea.

“A big THANK YOU to the nearly 800 new/renewed [Yea Alabama memberships in the last 36 hours,” Byrne posted. “Please know you are making a difference, no matter what level you join at!”
