Auburn basketball head coach Bruce Pearl and freshman guard Chance Westry underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Thursday.
In a photo shared by the team via Twitter, Pearl and Westry are pictured alongside Dr. James Andrews, AU’s chief orthopedic surgeon, who said he was pleased with the results of their respective procedures.
“Gotta make my limp look more like a strut,” tweeted Pearl, who is set to return to practice Monday after the university’s fall break.

Westry, who was ESPN’s 36th-ranked recruit in the 2022 class, will take three-to-four weeks off for recovery. The 6-foot-6 wing hopes to recover from the surgery in time for the Tigers’ Nov. 7 season-opener against George Mason.
According to 247 Sports, Westry played point guard, shooting guard and small forward for AU during the team’s summer exhibition trip to Israel.
Last week, junior guard K.D. Johnson praised Westry’s development and said he would be a “special” player for the Tigers.
“He’s really ahead of his years now,” the outlet quoted Johnson as saying. “He knows a lot about basketball for being that young. Him knowing how to get off the ball when he needs to and knows how to play in the system that we’re playing in — when BP gets him to where he needs to be, I know he’ll be special. I know y’all will see it.”
Auburn is ranked 15th in ESPN’s Way-Too-Early Top 25 college basketball rankings.
