Former Auburn guard Holloway commits to Alabama

Earlier this week, it was reported that former Auburn guard Aden Holloway, recently in the transfer portal, would be taking a visit to Tuscaloosa.

Holloway made things official on Friday afternoon, committing to Nate Oats and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Holloway, a consensus 5-star and top-20 player in the class of 2023, arrived at Auburn highly-touted. However, things never fully clicked for the talented young guard in his sole season on the Plains.

Though he showed flashes of brilliance, Holloway averaged just over 7 points per game while shooting 30 percent from the three-point line, including a scoreless performance in Auburn’s first-round upset against Yale.

In high school, Holloway was regarded as an elite three point-shooter. The hope is that playing in Nate Oats’ offense will allow for more spacing and to unlock his potential as a shooter:

Holloway is the third transfer to arrive in Tuscaloosa this offseason, joining guards Houston Mallette and Chris Youngblood, as the Tide look to build on the first Final Four appearance in school history. With Holloway’s commitment, Alabama now has two roster spots left to fill.

Holloway figures to be a crucial piece for a rebuilding Tide team in the 2024-25 season.
