The Auburn University Board of Trustees has given final approval to the construction of a new videoboard in the north end zone of Jordan-Hare Stadium, the school announced in Monday’s Board of Trustees June recap.

The project, which was originally approved in February, will carry an estimated cost of $25.7 million. It is expected to break ground within the next two months and is scheduled to be completed before the start of the 2025 football season.

Jordan-Hare’s current north end zone videoboard, which was installed in 1987, is difficult to see from the other side of the stadium.

“We are appreciative of the Auburn Board of Trustees for its continued support of Auburn Athletics and the Auburn Family,” Auburn athletic director John Cohen said in February. “This videoboard project will not only take a big step in our efforts to provide a better aesthetic balance between Jordan-Hare Stadium’s north and south end zones and an improved sound experience, but more importantly will continue to modernize the fan experience for our fan base.”

“It will also give our south end zone patrons, including our student section, an opportunity to have an unimpeded and straight-ahead view of a state-of-the-art videoboard,” he added.

The school estimates the new videoboard, which will boast almost 7,300 square feet of LED space, will be roughly two-thirds the size of Jordan-Hare’s south end zone videoboard. By square footage, it will be the sixth-largest videoboard in the Southeastern Conference and a top-20 collegiate videoboard in the country.

Birmingham-based firm LBYD Engineers, who built the south end zone videoboard in 2015, has been selected to lead the project.
