ESPN director dies before Alabama super regional game

The world of college baseball was overshadowed this weekend when a tragic event took place at Alabama’s NCAA Super Regional baseball game.

Award-winning ESPN director Kyle Brown, 42, died before the Crimson Tide-Wake Forest Super Regional game Saturday, causing the game to be delayed for two hours.

ESPN released a statement following Brown’s death.

“On Saturday morning, beloved ESPN director Kyle Brown suffered a medical emergency and tragically passed away at the NCAA Baseball Super Regional in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. A 16-year ESPN employee, Kyle was a deeply admired member of our production team – and highly accomplished, having captured two Sports Emmy Awards while working a multitude of sports from baseball and basketball to ‘Monday Night Football’ and college football.

Brown, a former Ohio State pitcher, won two Sports Emmy Awards. In addition to baseball games, he also worked basketball games, college football games, and “Monday Night Football” for ESPN.
