Energy industry training center in Jasper will expand ACCS, Alabama Power HVAC program

A facility to educate and train prospective energy sector professionals is set to be built in Jasper, Alabama. Beyond a new state-of-the-art building, a comprehensive program will also provide aid to employees and job seekers all the way through their pathway into a strong, lifelong career.

The Alabama Energy Infrastructure Training Center and Network will address the growing demand for skilled professionals in the energy sector by providing opportunities that will help equip Alabama’s workforce with the skills necessary to succeed.

The program is part of a workforce development partnership between the Legislature, the Alabama Community College System, and Alabama Power.

The main location is an expansion of the HVAC Training Center in Jasper. Thanks to a longtime partnership between Bevill State Community College and Alabama Power, another building, now in the design phase, will be constructed and utilized for the next generation of industry professionals.

In 2017, Alabama Power and Bevill State Community College formed a partnership to help provide workforce development and economic growth for Alabama. 52 industry partners have also participated in its development.

The current HVAC training facility has provided professional development, continuing education and training to over 38,000 participants from 45 states and three countries since 1986.

The program will also have the ability to conduct remote training at community colleges across the state.

The AEITCN is hosting an announcement program and reception on March 27 at 2:30 p.m to celebrate the program’s launch at the Center in Jasper.

Speakers at the event will include Alabama Senate Pro Tem Greg Reed, Alabama Power President and CEO Jeff Peoples, Chancellor of the Alabama Community College System Jimmy H. Baker, and President of Bevill State Joel Hagood.
