Electric Cooperatives of Alabama make 2026 judicial endorsements: ‘Fair, consistent, grounded’

The Electric Cooperatives of Alabama Political Action Committee (PAC) announced its slate of judicial endorsements for the 2026 election cycle in a news release on Wednesday.

“It is integral that Alabama has a judicial system that is fair, consistent, and grounded in the rule of law,” said Karl Rayborn, CEO of Alabama Rural Electric Association of Cooperatives.

“These incumbents have shown a clear understanding of how their decisions affect communities and businesses across our state, and we are confident they will continue to serve with integrity and sound judgment.”

The Electric Cooperatives of Alabama PAC endorses the following candidates:

Alabama Supreme Court

  • Brad Mendheim, Place 7
  • Greg Shaw, Place 8

Alabama Court of Civil Appeals

  • Ben Bowden, Place 4
  • Matt Fridy, Place 5

Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals

  • Mary Windom, Place 4
  • Beth Kellum, Place 5

These endorsements reflect the collective support of Alabama’s electric cooperatives and underscore AREA’s commitment to strengthening rural communities and advancing progress.

The Alabama Rural Electric Association of Cooperatives (AREA) represents 22 member-owned electric distribution cooperatives that provide reliable, affordable power to over 1 million Alabamians.
