Drone video captures spectacular Montgomery Christmas lights display from the sky

A family on Dalraida Pkwy. in Montgomery, Alabama, has transformed their property into a winter wonderland of lights this Christmas, and the folks at Growing Dreamz, a company that says it specializes in growing small businesses through creating content and providing social media training, have captured the spectacle from the sky with a drone camera.

Carmen Jemette, the homeowner, whose yearly lights display attracts viewers from all over the city, said he spends thousands of dollars each year putting it all together, between his sky-high power bill and updating the display.

“It’s all worth it when you see the kids and the gleam in their eyes,” he said.

Viewing the lights and meeting Santa Claus is free, but Mr. Jemette does ask people to donate canned goods, which he gives to the Montgomery Area Food Bank.

“It’s Christmas lights with a purpose,” said Chason Smitherman of Growing Dreamz. “It’s just an amazing thing.”

And the purpose is even bigger than donating food.

Prominently displayed on the Jemette’s property is what they have dubbed the “Christmas Enthusiasts Prayer,” which sums it up perfectly:

As I untangle stings of Christmas Lights, Lord help me to remember that I do this first to honor You. Never let me get so prideful of my display that I fail to see the wonders in the eyes of a child or the joy on the faces of those who are still children at heart. Never let me forget that my total effort is to make Christmas memories, bring cheer and to slow down of a hectic season, if only for a moment, and focus on the true meaning of Christmas. And Lord, someday when I meet You face to face, I pray that I may hear You say:

When you made My people smile, you made Me smile.

Amen.
