Former U.S. Senator Doug Jones (D-AL) is cashing in on the infatuation many in the national media had with his short stint in office.

Jones on Friday announced he has decided to join CNN as a “political commentator.”

His first appearance in this newfound role will come Friday afternoon on “The Lead,” the CNN show hosted by Jake Tapper.

This comes after Jones was passed over by President Joe Biden for an appointment in the new Democratic administration. Jones was said to be a contender for the attorney general nomination, however Biden ultimately preferred Judge Merrick Garland to lead the Department of Justice.

Alabama’s former senator also recently announced he is one of six visiting fellows this spring at the Georgetown Institute of Politics & Public Service in Washington, D.C.
