One of Dallas County’s main recreational venues is set to reopen next month.

The Dallas County Public fishing lake, which has been temporarily closed due to a change in management, will begin normal operations July 1.

The fishing hot spot is 11 miles south of Selma at 800 County Road 6, in Sardis. It features a 100-acre lake, public restrooms, a covered fishing pier, and a boat ramp.

Bait, fishing tackle, and snacks can be bought at the lake. To fish, a valid fishing license is required and there is a daily $3 fishing permit fee.

Alabama’s State Public Fishing Lakes are managed by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The lakes are stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish and crappie.
