U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Huntsville) says he’s confident that President Donald Trump will soon announce the relocation of U.S. Space Command headquarters to Huntsville.

It is widely expected that the newly confirmed U.S. Air Force Secretary, Troy Meink, will officially move the Space Command HQ back to Huntsville.

The congressman has been on the forefront of this issue, assuring his constituents this year that Huntsville is the rightful place for the new facility.

“You don’t ever get out in front of the President,” Strong said Friday on WVNN. “I know that he’s definitely got a game plan.”

In 2023, then President Joe Biden announced that the Space Command HQ would remain in Colorado despite the Air Force Secretary identifying Redstone Arsenal as the best site just two years earlier.

Strong also referenced his recent meeting with Trump at the White House, where the President was seen telling Strong that the move is imminent and that he ‘is moving it to Alabama.’

“As everybody saw it…we were there at the White House, and it was kind of a private conversation,” Strong continued. “He just looked over and he said, ‘Dale Space Command is coming to Alabama, and it will be soon…we’re ready to go vertical with this.’”

Strong isn’t the only leader to discuss the possible Space Command move in recent days. U.S. Sens. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) and Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) have both said that they believe Trump will make the announcement in the coming weeks.

“I do think that we’re within a week or two of this being announced,” Strong said. “A lot of success going on right now. He’s been negotiating with Europe on trade. He’s taking off today at Andrews Air Force Base, going out of the country. Hegseth has his own share of things going on, but it’s time to announce this.”

“And now we’re going to do what’s right for national security, he added. “And I feel very comfortable the President will announce this in the weeks ahead.”
