Dale Strong slams Biden for ‘building a wall around the capitol’ but not the southern border

U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Huntsville) believes President Joe Biden is a hypocrite for putting up fencing around the Capitol for security during the State of the Union speech Thursday night.

According to Fox News, security officials began erecting the steel, grated 12-foot-tall fence around the immediate perimeter of the Capitol Wednesday night, continuing a trend started after the Capitol riot on January 6, 2020.

Strong posted a video on his social media pointing out the new fence. He then criticized the president for putting up a barrier to protect himself while he’s not willing to build a wall at the southern border.

“Isn’t this unbelievable?” Strong asked in the video. “President Biden will not close the southern border. Doesn’t believe in fences, but look what he’s putting up for tomorrow night’s State of the Union right here on Independence Ave. A 12 foot fence to protect him while he does the State of the Union. America deserves better.”

U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks) and U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) also shared Strong’s video.

Strong has been a vocal critic of Biden’s immigration policies. Thursday he praised the passage of the Laken Riley Act in the House, which he says will “force the Biden Administration to detain migrants arrested for theft, like the criminal responsible for her death.”

Republicans are also planning other ways to use the State of the Union address to showcase Biden’s failure at the southern border. House Speaker Mike Johnson has invited Tammy Nobles, the mother of a young woman, Kayla Hamilton, who was killed in 2022 by an illegal immigrant.

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) will no doubt raise the immigration issue as well as she gives the Republican response to Biden’s speech.
