U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) wants to make sure that any illegal immigrants caught voting in American elections are quickly deported.

Strong introduced the Deport Illegal Voters Act to expedite the removal of aliens convicted of voting illegally. The legislation adds unlawful voting to the defined list of aggravated felonies under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) and provides for the expedited deportation of convicted individuals.

“Today, I introduced the Deport Illegal Voters Act to expedite the removal of aliens convicted of voting illegally,” Strong said in a statement. “Anyone who is not an American citizen and casts a ballot in this election should be first in line to be deported. We must secure our elections and ensure participation in our elections is reserved for American citizens and American citizens only.”

The issue of illegal immigrants voting has gotten increased attention in Alabama recently as Sec. of State Wes Allen is attempting to purge non-citizens from the state’s voter rolls. A federal judge temporarily blocked Alabama’s non-citizen voter removal effort last month in response to the lawsuit that was filed by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).

The U.S. Supreme Court weighed in on a similar case this week, siding with the state of Virginia’s purging of non-citizens from its voter rolls.

Under the Biden-Harris Administration, we have seen record numbers of border crossings and illegal immigration into the United States. Additionally, there have been numerous cases of voter registration forms issued to non-citizens and numerous cases of non-citizen voting across the country, including Alabama. In September, the Department of Justice charged a Guatemalan national residing in Alabama with fraudulently using a U.S. identity to vote in multiple elections including the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections.

“People should stop and think twice before interfering in our elections,” Strong argued. “The Deport Illegal Voters Act sets a consequence fitting for those committing a federal offense.”
