U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) thinks it’s past time for the federal government to be funding National Public Radio (NPR), and is putting forward legislation to stop it.
Strong introduced the No More Funding for NPR Act of 2025 Friday that would prevent taxpayer dollars from going to the organization. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, a non-profit corporation, was created by federal law in 1967 to distribute funding to public media organizations like PBS and NPR.
The congressman argued that the media organization has too much of a leftwing bias to be receiving taxpayer dollars.

“NPR has become nothing more than a mouthpiece for the far left, serving as an extension of the Democratic Party’s communication arm,” Strong said. “Hard-earned taxpayer dollars should not be used to fund liberal propaganda. It is past time for Congress to stop subsidizing media that undermines the values and beliefs of everyday Americans.”

The two-page bill says, “After the date of the enactment of this Act, no Federal funds may, directly or indirectly, be made available to or used to support an organization… including through the payment of dues to or the purchase of programming from such organization by a public broadcast station using Federal funds received by such station.”
According to Strong’s press release, they should stop receiving taxpayer funds because “despite its mandate to create a more informed public, Congressional oversight and investigations have shown that NPR consistently skews reporting to favor liberal opinions, failing to deliver objective and unbiased reporting for the American people.”
