Alabamians are finally getting a look at what the much anticipated Star Amphitheatre in Birmingham may look like upon completion. Renderings of the new venue were released to the public for the first time this week and left many in the state eager and excited to take in a show at what will be the state’s newest large-scale entertainment venue.

The Star, which sits where Carraway Hospital once did, will be owned by the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex and managed by entertainment company, Live Nation. Live Nation also owns the Oak Mountain Amphitheatre in Shelby County which will be closed once the Star opens.

“This is the culmination of a yearlong effort to bring together the partners and the necessary resources to make this project a reality,” said BJCC CEO Tad Snider. “It shows yet again that our community can accomplish great things when we work together.”

The new 9,000 seat venue is expected to be completed in 2025 and reportedly will host at least 17 to 19 concerts a year.

The projected cost for building the new amphitheater is an estimated $50 million.
