Cullman Regional has announced the opening of its new freestanding emergency department in Hartselle. The facility, part of the hospital’s Hartselle campus, will open at 7 a.m. on Monday, January 13. It will offer 24/7 emergency care to residents of Morgan County and nearby communities.

The new ER features 10 treatment rooms, including a dedicated trauma room, an ambulance bay, a helipad, and a full imaging center with CT, X-ray, and ultrasound capabilities. Board-certified emergency medicine physicians will staff it, experienced ER nurses, lab and imaging technicians, and a paramedic crew to facilitate patient transport if needed.

“Cullman Regional puts priority on providing high-quality care, which has led to our Cullman ER consistently beating state and national benchmarks for heart attack and stroke care,” said Dr. Bill Smith, Cullman Regional Chief Medical Officer. “We’re bringing that same level of care to Hartselle.”

Equipped with advanced lab and imaging equipment, the Hartselle ER is designed to allow doctors to quickly diagnose conditions such as heart attacks and strokes, enabling rapid medical intervention.

After obtaining state approval in 2023, Cullman Regional completed construction and staffing for the new facility. The Alabama Department of Public Health completed its final inspections, and a state license to operate was issued.
