In Alabama’s second congressional district GOP primary runoff last year, now-U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-AL) defeated Dothan businessman Jeff Coleman by 20 points, which many political watchers considered to be a significant upset given Coleman’s substantial fundraising advantage over Moore.
Would Coleman take another shot at Moore in the 2022 election cycle?
According to a poll conducted by WPA Intelligence on behalf of Club for Growth PAC on July 12 and 13, Moore still holds an advantage over Coleman if the two faced off in a hypothetical 2022 matchup for the Republican nomination.
The poll of 460 likely Republican second congressional district primary voters showed Moore with a 53% to 19% advantage over Coleman. It also showed more voters would be undecided, at 25%, than were committed to a Coleman candidacy.
WPA also found Moore with a favorable-unfavorable advantage over Coleman. Moore had a 55-15% favorable versus unfavorable and Coleman a 30-24% favorable versus unfavorable.
