Clay Travis: ‘I feel sorry for Alabama fans having to compete with Tennessee’

OutKick’s Clay Travis, a noted fan of the University of Tennessee, has always been among the most opinionated people in sports media.

During Travis’ weekly appearance on Next Round Live, he took some shots at the Alabama Crimson Tide while hyping his Volunteers:

“Did you guys see who the leader is for the No. 1 quarterback in 2026?” Travis asked while pointing out the fact that Tennessee has been recruiting quarterbacks at an even more elite level than Alabama over the last couple of cycles.

“We are going to stack three straight first-round quarterbacks, and really I feel sorry for Alabama fans, having to compete with Tennessee,” Travis joked to a big laugh from the Next Round crew, who pointed out that the Vols have beaten the Tide just once in the last 16 years.

“I just think your program has become irrelevant with Nick Saban gone,” Travis said. “To be fair, y’all are a basketball school now. Congratulations! Move over Kentucky, the Crimson Tide has given up football. They’ve decided they’re gonna be a basketball school, I didn’t see it coming but I appreciate it.”
