Celebs, athletes and commentators praise Bama’s decision to hire Avery Johnson

Avery Johnson seems to be a popular hire for Alabama.

While fans have taken to Twitter to express their joy, intrigue, disappointment about Johnson, those with a few more followers have tweeted mostly positive things.

Former football players like running back Mark Ingram, fullback Le’Ron McClain and safety Nick Perry all praised the hire. Former Alabama basketball player Mo Williams also offered his support.

ESPN’s Bill Simmons is now on the bandwagon, as well as radio host Tim Brando and ESPN analyst Cris Carter.

Alabama’s softball coach Patrick Murphy welcomed Johnson to the coaching club at Alabama. Texas A&M football coach Kevin Sumlin also welcomed Johnson to the SEC West.

But there is still one shortcoming from hiring Johnson for Alabama’s other main revenue-earning sport.
