Byrne promises in new ad to cut wasteful spending, boost economic development

In a new television spot titled “Waste” released today, Republican congressional candidate Bradley Byrne discusses Washington’s out-of-control spending.

The ad cites multiple bizarre programs currently being funded by the federal government, including $325,000 for robotic squirrels, $20,000 for a federally funded circus foundation and almost $1 million to create a food menu for the planet Mars.

“Obama’s wasted billions of dollars on boondoggles. Meanwhile, important jobs projects like a new I-10 span go unfunded,” Byrne says in the ad. “That’s just wrong.”

Byrne goes on to tout his economic development record, and closes the ad by promising to “cut Obama’s waste so we can start creating jobs.”

But the last words you hear in the ad are a female voiceover saying, “Conservative, Bradley Byrne.” Yellowhammer pointed out today that Byrne may be having trouble driving home his conservative credentials with some voters.

Will this ad help?
