The Business Council of Alabama (BCA) on Wednesday announced its first slate of legislative endorsements for candidates seeking reelection in the 2022 election cycle.

BCA utilizes ProgressPAC, the organization’s political action committee, in making its endorsements of candidates seeking public office.

The full list of incumbent legislators BCA endorsed for reelection can be seen here. BCA in mid-2021 announced endorsements of several statewide candidates.

The following statewide candidates officially hold the endorsement of ProgressPAC:

  • Governor: Kay Ivey
  • Lieutenant Governor: Will Ainsworth
  • Attorney General: Steve Marshall
  • Agriculture and Industries Commissioner: Rick Pate
  • Supreme Court Associate Justice: Kelli Wise
  • Supreme Court Associate Justice: Greg Cook

BCA also announced that Kevin Savoy, vice president of Abbeville-based Great Southern Wood Preserving, had been elected as chairman of ProgressPAC for 2022.

Savoy indicated that BCA’s first round of endorsed candidates would serve to strengthen Alabama’s economy in their official capacities.

“ProgressPAC is dedicated to creating a business climate that grows jobs and strong communities in every corner of Alabama,” proclaimed Savoy. “These legislators have all displayed the type of pro-growth, solution-oriented leadership that continues to move Alabama forward. We are proud to support candidates who are committed to creating an environment in Alabama that protects and supports employers that create and sustain good jobs.”

BCA, Alabama’s largest business advocacy organization, serves as the state’s exclusive affiliate to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers.

The primary election will take place on May 24, 2022.
