Hoover investigators have managed to use DNA found on a cigarette butt to close a burglary case from over a year ago. Hoover police were called to the Hendrick Chevrolet car dealership after someone attempted to steal the radio from a customer’s car. Only a cigarette butt was left behind, however the car’s owner did not smoke.
Over a year later, Tuscaloosa Police arrested Joshua Lee Ginn of West Blocton on an unrelated charge. It was only then that investigators found that Ginn’s DNA matched what was found on the cigarette butt. Hoover investigators were notified and charged Ginn with breaking and entering a motor vehicle, with a $10,000 bond.
Ginn (22) is currently being held at the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
