Brooks blasts Trump over shot at DeSantis

According to a recent Cygnal poll commissioned by Alabama Daily News and Gray Television, former President Trump gets more support than Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in a hypothetical 2024 Presidential primary matchup.

Trump bests DeSantis 49.6% to 35.7% in the poll, showing just how popular the 45th president still is in the Yellowhammer State.

During a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, Trump created controversy by taking a thinly veiled shot a DeSantis, claiming how he gets more support than the Florida governor, and then giving him the nickname “DeSanctimonious.”

In response to the jab, DeSantis got a lot of support from Republican politicians and political pundits, including one Alabama congressman.

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville) said Trump’s comments “alienates voters” and ultimately hurts the future of the Republican party.

Brooks has been an outspoken critic of the former president since Trump withdrew his endorsement of the congressman in the race for U.S. Senate.

It appears though a potential Trump versus DeSantis feud might not have lasted very long as Trump praised DeSantis at a Florida campaign rally Sunday.
